Heritage History: Block Building Competition

To celebrate our 50th anniversary we are holding a competition to create an educational block design that is of or inspired by the structures on site at Heritage Village. Two winning builds will be chosen to be on view in our special exhibition in the Roy Helms Gallery for 2026!
Architectural drawings of buildings are available on our public collections website: Heritage Village AutoCad. You can also use this site to view our artifacts held at Heritage Village, as well as special and permanent exhibitions. Participants are also encouraged to visit Heritage Village to explore structures on site.
Who: Heritage Village, 11909 125th Street N., Largo, FL 33774, Heritage Village is open Wednesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Sunday, 1 – 4 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcome and benefit Heritage Village operations.
What: Block Building Competition for Florida Residents. Builds must be inspired by or depict historic structures at Heritage Village.
When: Submissions are open from September 1, 2025, until May 30, 2026. The two winning structures will be on display in the special Roy Helms exhibition for 2026. Winning entries will be informed by June 6, 2026.
Why: We aim to engage the public with this competition to teach them about Pinellas County history and architecture in our 50th anniversary!
